Thetford Town welcomed a strong Costessey Jets team knowing that the level of play would need to be above and beyond the level of last week.
It was Costessey who started the stronger with some decent movement and powerful running from midfield, chances were created but Town were defending well in the main until the 29th minute when the Costessey striker broke down the flank at pace before cutting in and hitting a shot into the far corner.
The second half was more of the same really with the Town players looking a little lethargic, losing shape and giving the ball away too easily. In the 46th minute Costessey extended the lead when a panicked clearance from Town found the Costessey player in space and he drilled a shot in from distance, Byron got a hand to it but couldn't keep it out.
This seemed to wake the boys up a little and the level of our play went up, we were able to put pressure of our own on and we eventually got the reward when David was on hand to stab home the ball after a rehearsed corner play worked well. Town continued to press forward but were not able to get the equaliser.
Mixed feelings from this game, the boys not deserving of anything based on the first half performance, the last 15 minutes were pretty good but we cant afford to give teams at this level a head start.
